Volunteering

Many people are quite rightly concerned about the plight of homeless people in Bristol, especially during winter months. Not everyone is aware that there are plenty of opportunities to lend a helping hand in very practical ways. Here are some :-

Almost all the organisations connected with Bristol Homeless Forum can use volunteers in a wide range of roles.

Those organisations who provide overnight accommodation for those with no other shelter are very much in need of volunteers to help supervise overnight sessions.

In particular

St Mungo’s is currently recruiting for night shelter volunteers to support people sleeping rough in Bristol with a warm, safe place to sleep at night.  We would really appreciate your support in passing on our information leaflet to colleagues and friends or by posting it on your noticeboard. Julian Trust need overnight volunteers throughout the year, offering as little as one night per month can ease the load on our existing dedicated team.

Spring of Hope, ladies nightshelter, needs overnight volunteers and housekeepers

And finally, Bristol Nightstop needs more volunteer host families for young people on a night by night basis – and if you’re not sure what a difference that can make, spare a few minutes to watch this :
